Ms. Tan

In my almost-twelve-year of education, I have met many kinds of teachers and lecturers. They range from newly graduated freshies to very-soon-retiring old birds. They played two important roles in my life.
The first form teacher I met in standard one was Ms. Tan Yuk Lian(it means lotus flower made from jade). She was a Chinese lady, probably in her thirties with gigantic bossoms just like the one illustrated in 'BOY'. I still remember one of my friends always tell us that she had a plastic surgery because my friend's father was a friend of the doctor who had operated on her.The first time she entered our class, I could felt her arrogance (and imbalance due to her BIG bossoms), although she tried to be friendly and acted as cute as possible by saying "同学们早安!”(translation: "Good morning my fellow students!") Her voice was so loud until we could hear it echoing in the air.
Ms. Tan's teaching method was rather different from other teachers. As you know, primary school teachers are always multi-talented. They can be given the job of teaching Mathematics, Chinese, Moral Education, Art and a few more subjects at the same time. When we are having Chinese lesson, she will ask us to go to the front of the classroom. We will surround her and sit down. Then, she will conduct her lesson in the way of story telling. On the other hand, when she was teaching Mathermatics, she will talk in a serious tone as if she was informing us about one's death. No one have ever questioned her about anything regarding Mathematics because we knew that if we do, she will spend the rest of her time nagging the wholoe class for not paying attention.
Her daily class routine was to teach in the first half session and she will distribute some homework for us to complete after reccess. When it is almost 4.30 pm, we will queue up altomatically and walk to the hall for the climax of everyday. Ms. Tan was the teacher in-charge of the dancing club in my primary school. Every afternoon, she has to coach the dancers from the morning session while they are practicing in the hall. When we had a class with her, we are made to go to the hall to do our homework while watching the dancers practicing on their new dance. I am still wondering how I struggled through those days of laying on the floor in the hall to complete our homework while listenning to the music played by the dancers. A few of us even ended up joining the dancing club.
Generally, I like her way of teaching but not her unpredictable mood swing. When she had a bad day, the whole class would be able to sense it. She will walk into the class with the face of a rotten tomato with flies around it. The moment she noticed something wrong from our faces, she will call you out and your ears will be swelling for the whole week. On the contrary, if she had a perfect mood on that day, she would apply an unbearable amount of perfume and no matter what we did on that day, she would just sweep it under the carpet. I would consider her a typical primary school teacher.
